Ingredients (Serves 2-3)

  • 2 large apples (red or sweet variety, peeled & grated)

  • 2 tbsp ghee (clarified butter, for richness)

  • ¼ cup sugar (adjust as per sweetness of apples)

  • ½ cup milk (adds creaminess, optional)

  • ½ tsp cardamom powder (elaichi powder)

  • 5-6 chopped almonds & cashews (for garnish & crunch)

  • 1 tbsp raisins (optional)

  • 1 pinch saffron strands (optional, for color & aroma)

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Apples

  1. Peel, core, and grate the apples. (Use red apples for natural sweetness.)

  2. If apples are too juicy, squeeze out some excess juice.

Step 2: Cook the Apples

  1. Heat 1 tbsp ghee in a pan on low-medium heat.

  2. Add the grated apples and sauté for 5-7 minutes until moisture reduces.

  3. Pour in milk (if using) and continue cooking until absorbed.

Step 3: Add Sugar & Flavorings

  1. Add sugar and mix well. The halwa will release moisture again.

  2. Cook until it thickens and starts leaving the sides of the pan.

  3. Stir in cardamom powder and saffron strands (if using).

Step 4: Final Touch

  1. Heat 1 tbsp ghee in a small pan, fry cashews, almonds, and raisins until golden.

  2. Mix the fried nuts into the halwa.
